Who we are

I’ve traveled to many places across Canada and around the world and none compare to Nova Scotia. I knew decades ago that this is where I was meant to be. I’ve finally been able to realize my dream and have a cozy spot on the southern tip of the province.

Here with my 2 rescue pups and my son as my assistant we are living our best lives. The community is incredibly friendly and helpful and I love to give back.

Aside from donating pieces of my pottery to charity events and fundraising efforts I also volunteer with Hope For Wildlife and help rescue animals in distress.

I’ve been a hobby potter for nearly 10 years, and what started as a creative outlet has grown into a full-time love affair with clay. You’ll usually find me at the wheel, happily covered in a bit of slip and completely absorbed in the process.

One of my favourite parts of working with ceramics is sharing it with others. I love teaching and helping people discover the simple joy of playing with clay, whether it’s their first time at the wheel or they’re continuing their own creative journey.

I am frequently asked where the name Aroo originated. In 2014 I adopted a rescue Chocolate Husky named Rosie. She was derpy and full of so much love. She rarely left my side and I adored having her there.

When I would be making pieces at my wheel she would stand in front of me and sing like huskies love to do. It was her way of saying she wanted to snuggle or play. I named my studio in her honour and her image is my logo as well as my makers mark. She is proudly residing in every piece of pottery I make. She crossed the rainbow bridge in 2024 and I still miss her. Every day.
